✦✦✦✧ Five years after Vile Genesis, Inferi return with a reshuffled lineup: Malcolm Pugh now covers bass too (Andrew Kim having decamped to Brand Of Sacrifice), and this is drummer Spencer Moore’s swan song before joining Archspire. You can hear why they wanted him; there’s a definite Archspire vibe running through this thing. The shredding is ridiculously tight as ever, Mike Low’s production is crystal clear, and the melodies and arpeggiated chord progressions hook you from the very first track. At a lean 38 minutes, it’s over before you know it, and you’ll want to hit repeat. One of their best yet.
