Re: Re: Nuclear Power Trio – Critical Bass Theory (8K)
It’s both goofily entertaining and kick ass music, a rare combination.

Oh man, how did I miss this when it came out? Nick Schendzielos is one of my favorite metal bassists around (two of his JFAC tracks are on my GAINZ playlist), and the other two guys (from Allegaeon and Havok) are no slouches either!
✦✦✧✧ This album is 100% rethrash with solid performances. Fans of Powermad and Metal Church will definitely love this. The production is crisp, although hollow sounding (but I guess that makes sense as an improvement from vintage thrash). Still, I’d prefer more of an Overkill approach to the sound. At least you can hear the bass here!
✦✦✦✧ This album starts out in a rough way… like the worst parts of Scatterbrain, Suicidal Tendencies, and Municipal Waste hogtied together. I’m very, very conflicted about the too-funky bass antics of Nick Schendzielos. Not at all conflicted about David Sanchez’s lyrics and vocals, which are as subtle as Dave Mustaine’s fever dreams.
