✦✦✦✧ Russian Circles are so fucking cool. Just when you think you’ve got them figured out, they pull a Crazy Ivan and surprise you with more variations to their sonic explorations. Some of their most metallic and heaviest moments are on this, their ninth (duh) album. But so are some of their synthiest moments. And still, they devastate with their epic scope. You just need to listen to the whole album, which clocks in at a meaningful but not overwrought 39 minutes. This is certainly one of Russian Circles’ better album, but it might also be my pick for the album I’d share as a way of introducing them to newbies.
