✦✦✦✧ If you’ve never listened to Primus before… why the hell not? Also, don’t start here; you’re not ready.

Okay, now that those newbs are staring at the Frizzle Fry cover with alarm, I can tell y’all that this is the happiest I’ve been listening to Primus in a long time. This definitely sounds like a band that’s been playing Rush covers for the past year. The EP at large (but especially the 11:31 opener Conspiranoia) is a quirky love letter to 70s prog. The balance between Les, Lar, and Herb is much fairer than it used to be, not because the bass is slacking (far from it), but rather because it feels like Les is sharing a bit better now. Point being, this EP is a fantastic showcase of Larry LaLonde’s experimental guitar, while Tim Alexander’s drumming is always crisp and on point. Listen to this one at least once; after all, the EP is less than 20 minutes total.
