Thy Art Is MurderHuman Target

✦✦✧✧ The last time TAIM put out an album, I said, “Typically, one doesn’t listen to TAIM for subtlety, or innovation, or expansion of the genre. One listens when in need of a good beating.” So why o why did they put a heightened emphasis on vocals, unclear yet fast riffing, prominent fake snare hits, and a generally squishy sonic character?

Thy Art Is MurderDear Desolation

✦✦✧✧ Typically, one doesn’t listen to TAIM for subtlety, or innovation, or expansion of the genre. One listens when in need of a good beating. Well, on this album the Australian deathcore quintet give you that brütality in spades, and they successfully throw in just a little innovation to boot. Still, you can depend on blast beats and breakdowns to carry you through this frenetic fusillade.

Thy Art Is MurderHoly War

★★☆☆ While the idea of these grosscore stalwarts trying to add a touch of symphonic grandiosity to their normal fare seems great on paper, more often than not the results fall short of anything compelling. The band do much better on this album when they return to form, and on those occasions what you get is exactly what the band do best.
