✦✦✦✧ Entheos is now a power trio. Think about that as the safety lapbar comes down and you are immediately launched onto this wild ride. Navene Koperweis handles the guitars as well as drums on this album, while Evan Brewer is back on bass. The result is a sound that slides adroitly from death metal to prog to jazz, equal parts Torrential Downpour and Meshuggah at their most experimental.

✦✦✦✧ My description from Entheos’ first album is equally applicable here, and the band continue to push the envelope of electronic-infused prog metal in twisted ways. If anything, their sophomore effort is even more ambitious, inventive, and above all alien. It’s so out there, in fact, that I find myself having a hard time relating to it on an emotional level.

✦✦✦✧ This album is so ambitious, coming up with descriptive comparisons is itself a daunting proposition. But here goes: take the constituent parts of this supergroup (namely, Animals As Leaders, The Faceless, Veil Of Maya, and Animosity), then pervert those elements with equal parts Intronaut, Meshuggah, Gorguts, and Disincarnate, and then sprinkle in a little EDM-inspired jazzmetal.
