There is actually quite a number of female musicians embracing rock and metal music in Japan, so Audrey and Kate have company!

The public relations flack still buried somewhere inside me couldn’t help but come up with talking points to help President-Elect Joko Widodo navigate through the hardest ‘gate of them all: “metalgate.”
I kept worrying he was going to mash or cut his fingers! Agree about new Vader. Just picked up the new Septicflesh but haven’t had time to get around to it yet.
Can I get the ukelele version of that?
What is your favorite Soilwork album besides the new one? Can you point out some of their career highlights for me? I got a good deal on their back catalog and want to make the best choices.
Thanks for another entertaining edition of the Arsies and the thoughtful summary of your views on the current state of metal! Both were thought-provoking and deserving of detailed responses….
Thanks for this. Having revisited these albums with the “Pathologist’s Report” reissues a few years back, I can say I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment.
As for Surgical Steel, although for nostalgic reasons alone I also would not rate it above Necroticism or Heartwork, I encourage you to give it more time.
I only have In Rock and Machine Head. Both are okay, but sound pretty dated. Never heard the Mark III stuff (except an Opeth cover), so maybe I’ll check it out.
Question: How has “prog spring” been for you? Protest the Hero, Obscura, TesseracT, BTBAM, The Human Abstract? I like the PTH and BTBAM, but need more time to digest the rest.
Thanks for the detailed response. I think I understand your position much better now. Sorry for my delay in getting back to you; I had to wait until I had the time to give it justice. It is wonderful to have an opportunity to engage in a discussion like this; I really appreciate it.
