DestrageSO MUCH. too much.

✦✦✦✧ This album is chaotic and whackadoo, even by Destrage’s standards. It’s catchy, unpredictable, and devastatingly morose, even with plenty of the band’s ridiculous musicianship. It’s also exhausting to listen to; I’m not sure how they managed to embed so many hooks in so many other layers of equally interesting ear candy.

DestrageThe Chosen One

✦✦✦✦ Once again, Destrage grace us with a wildly inventive collection of progressive metalcore songs. And yet, this EP is even more accessible and refined, for all its unpredictable craziness. It reminds of the best of Dillinger, Meshuggah, and Leprous: well-balanced, enthralling, energetic, and inhuman (even for all its listenability). A must-listen for sure, and the band’s best album.

DestrageAre You Kidding Me? No.

★★★☆ Wow. I’ll tell you that this bizarre album nods to the Dillinger Escape Plan, Mr Bungle, Between The Buried And Me, Skrillex, The Mars Volta, Green Jellö… but even all of that won’t really capture the nature of this hybridized beast. Nor will any of that tell you that, through whatever specific alchemy the band wield, it actually works surprisingly well.
